Carol Lasek, ChFC

With a Nursing degree from Maria College in Albany, New York, Carol worked for 9 years as an RN before relocating to South Florida and getting a degree in Finance from Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Her move was fortuitous. Instead of pursuing a career in hospital administration as she had originally intended, Carol was recruited by a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) and met her future husband, Howard Bienenfeld, who was assigned to be her manager. They became partners in business and partners in life when they married in 1985.

 The pivot from nursing to financial professional was a natural one. “Your financial health affects your physical health,” Carol explained. As the “L” in BLS, Carol finds it inspiring to motivate others to take control of their financial health. As a former nurse, Carol’s interest stems from a deep desire to improve one’s financial well-being. But one of her greatest accomplishments has been watching her children follow in her footsteps. “Their career choices reaffirm the type of work that we do which transcends multi-generations.”  Carol credits her mom for her work ethic as well as her ability to take risks. “As the family breadwinner, juggling two jobs and tending to our family, my mother was the ultimate role model. Despite her hectic schedule, she was incredibly generous and always took the time to make others feel comfortable. My mom truly inspired me to value everyone’s relationship.

 Carol lives with her husband and family in Hollywood, Florida. In her free time (though we have difficulty believing she has any), she loves to swim, read and cook with her grandchildren, learn new languages, and cultivate her orchid and butterfly gardens.
